Sometimes, when the cafe or library was too noisy to study it began to disrupt me, I would sometimes put in my ear plugs. I could not study with my favourite songs playing as I found myself starting to sing along, rather than paying attention to my notes.

One day, I discovered this thing called white noise. It is like background noise that blocks out outside noises, but at the same time is not a song and therefore is not catchy or disruptive. When I really need to concentrate and block out other sounds (for work and study) this is a great tool to use. You can find it on various sources on the internet, but we have made it easy for you to get a sample of it here below. (You can find longer versions on the internet for free).

Try it:

Just put your earplugs in, listen to the music and see for five minutes if it helps you concentrate.
